Rich tones & sensory expression abstracts
Welcome, I'm Bren to my friends, Bem to my sisters and Nanny Wick to my Grand-daughters!
Through trial and error I have sought to educate myself in exploring the rich depths of human emotions and sensory expression through abstract and mixed media art. Drawing inspiration from the world around me, my paintings often reflect oceanic, geologic or archaeologic aspects of nature, an intuitive reaction to the world around me and within the transforming process of creating. I see life in layers, you need to keep digging to mine out the full richness of what lies beneath the surface. The act of peeling back the layers is what adds substance and depth and enriches the experience of knowing a person, place or thing. It's the layers that imprint themselves most deeply onto our physic.
I love abstraction for it's where imagination is freed. It comes loose from the moorings of images that define things for us. It allows me to experience through colour, line and texture, an emotional response, an intuitive feeling of connection that's not easy to explain--just experience.
My work is very tactical, seeing with my hands is exciting and deeply satisfying for me as an artist. It's a wonderful moment when I see others reaching out to run their hands over a surface engaging with the painting in a personal and up close way. Working in multiple layers, the mysterious process of creating pulls me into deep places of expressive release and transforming moments.
Painting from my studio loft overlooking the beautiful St. John River Valley in NB, provides fuel for my imagination and suits my 'hermit like' tendencies!
"Working on my art connects me to myself and my world in all its layers and that keeps me motivated."
In December of 2011, I went public with my art, with a solo showing at Fusion Bistro. The outpouring of interest has kept me busy since then along with participating in local Art Fairs and Festivals.
I'm also a wife, mother of two grown children and a delighted Grand-mother of teenagers!
Please look me up on Instagram (@ intuitive) and Facebook (BrendaThebeauAbstractArt) for "in process" and "first looks" at completed pieces! Look forward to 'meeting you!'
